Cleve Dheensaw

Cleve Dheensaw has been covering sports for the Times 91Ô´´ since 1981. His more than 40 years of stories on Island athletes and events earned him induction into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame in 2020 as first inductee into the media category who spent his entire career outside the 91Ô´´ market.

Cleve has followed Island athletes around the world. His range of stories — from Island players in the soccer and rugby World Cups to Silken Laumann, Steve Nash, Simon Whitfield in the Olympics and the legendary Gait twins in lacrosse — have captured an era in Island sport.

Cleve is also the author of six books about the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, B.C. lacrosse history and the history of sport on 91Ô´´ Island.

A native of 91Ô´´ Island, Cleve is a graduate of Victoria High School and the University of Victoria.
